Golfers go to Four Seasons Scottsdale because guests get preferred tee times and other privileges at the two legendary golf courses at Troon North -- The Monument and The Pinnacle. But it's a good destination for spa-lovers who have never picked up a golf club in their life (like me.) What I really loved was the desert setting.
It's in northern Scottsdale, where things are a little wilder. It's right next to Pinnacle Peak, a city park where you can see a lot of the indigenous desert vegetation in a natural setting. You can get a great workout by hiking up from the bottom to the top and along the ridge -- a 1.7 mile round trip. Go by yourself or with a group that leaves from the spa every morning, but go early, especially in the warmer months. The sun gets hot, fast.
